Have you ever felt foreign in your own body? Yes or No, it’s all right but if you are used to something, you use it daily day in / day out for a long time, the moment to stop or the break, you become an alien in your flesh.
The ability to withstand such a feeling of being a foreigner is what differentiates between a successful quitter and a person who will relapse at a certain point Relapses often occur and that shows you have failed and with such a feeling you would become more of a user than you were before.
WHO AM I
Hello, I am Geofrey Isiagi, a Software Developer and cyber security enthusiast. I love computers and as I was growing up, I had some dreams like becoming a scientist and making bombs, being a hacker, being good at computers, etc. I was a business statistician at university and a dev and junior ethical hacker currently by passion.
I am also an addict, although some of us don’t consider ourselves addicts because “hello” we use marijuana, weed, Mary Jane, whatever you want to call it and some people consider it not being addictivity. It’s relatively easy to quit weed compared to other drugs and that’s one some people consider it not addictive, while it would be partially true, it still depends on the person's mental ability, frequency of use in a day, and over a long period.
Note: Effects vary from user to user
Effects of my addiction {some}.
Lack of confidence, shyness, and avoiding direct contact with people.
When drug high, you are in some peaceful cloud sitten, having a view from above and sometimes you are scared to show others that you are high since you feel something is off although you like the feeling. This makes you separate yourselves from others with a fear of acting weird like unnecessary laughing, or speech.
Since opportunities meet others in the present, when addicted, you are in your own world and it feels peaceful but in the real world, my friend you are losing out and it hurts when you come to the know and the time you have wasted.
Bad company
You need the drug and the drug is not sold in the market, supermarkets, and wholesale or retail shops. There a specific suppliers of drug, it’s illegal. To get the drug you need to cooperate with such people, some of them are harmful and others are nice people.
After finding a supplier there are regular members, people who always come, you meet up and become friends, pass each other joints, talk, laugh, enjoy the moment, and after you become timed.
Among your addict friends, some have goals, and ambitions that would really helpful to the world but being high makes us forget and live in the moment.
Unclear purpose, vision, and goals
Personally, being high makes me forget. I forgot everything like the shirt I had on in the morning when it was evening the same day. with such forgetting, I had goals that I could not achieve because I forgot about them.
When you become that user, you have no time. Each free time or not free time, feeling bored, you need company, and drugs give company and pleasure but the clock is not waiting, it keeps moving forward.Burn up cash
As the saying goes, smoke sees their cash turn into smoke. I get the drug, you need money and when dependent on the drug, you find the money in a way. if you have savings, you will use them up or borrow. There comes a time when you don’t mind after the cash, all you care about is getting high and you will not how much cash you spent in a day but if calculate, you cry about how your money is not doing anything good for you.
My Turning Point.
I have made this morning sober because yesterday night I missed a beer and I really wanted it. That made me realize that I could break free. Some people trigger processes, positive or negative who knows but they can change your life.
So far I have made it through the morning and I do not know how the all day will be but will try my best with time to see that I am back to being sober.
HARSH TRUTH
In Uganda, 6 of the 10 youths you meet (my assumption in the figures), are on some kind of drug. This includes the people you least assume. This is the new generation, who will save this generation.
